Salted Caramel Popcorn Apples

Delicious Granny Smith apples coated with creamy caramel sauce and crunchy salted caramel popcorn. Divine! 


Ingredients for 4 portions:

  • 4 Granny Smith Apples

  • 1pkt Werther’s Salted Caramel Popcorn

  • 3pkts Werther’s Soft Caramels

  • 20ml Elmlea Double


Method:

  1. Dip the apples in hot water (not boiling) for about 15 seconds and wipe them off with a clean cloth. This will remove any wax from the apples. 

  2. Crush the popcorn in a food processor or with a rolling pin. These should be small chunks not powder.

  3. Place the soft caramels in a small bowl and add the cream. 

  4. Melt them in a microwave at 10-second intervals. Alternatively, you can use the bang Marie method.

  5. Stir the cream to remove any lumps.

  6. Remove the stalk from the apples and insert a chopstick.

  7. Dip the apples in the caramel, let the excess drip off then drizzle them with the crushed popcorn.

  8. Place them on a plate and let them chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes until set.
