Sardine Rolls
Ingredients (about 6-8 rolls)
Dough:
240ml Lukewarm Water
2tsp Dry Instant Yeast
500g Auntie’s Mix Flour
3tbsp Sugar
1tsp Salt
2tbsp Oil From the Sardines
1 Fresh Egg
Filling:
2 Cans Sardines in Oil (drained, reserve 2tbsp for the dough)
2tbsp Salted Butter
1tsp Garlic Granules
1tsp Italian Seasoning
1/2tsp Salt
Freshly Ground Pepper
Method:
Prepare the dough, in a large bowl or food mixer, add all the dry ingredients, followed by the liquid ones.
Knead for 10 minutes until a soft dough is formed.
Cover the bowl with cling film and let it rise fore 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
In the meantime prepare the filling.
Place the butter in a small bowl and season it with the Italian herbs and garlic granules.
Using a fork, mix them well until a cream is formed.
Add the drained sardines and mix everything to form a paste.
Deflate the dough and open it onto a floured surface.
Roughly make it into a rectangular shape and spread the sardine base on top.
Roll the dough from its length.
Cut the rolls (about 2 inches each)
Place them into a baking dish lined with baking paper.
Bake in a preheated oven for about 30mins at 175°c, or until nicely browned.
